How to Increase the Credit Limit on a Discover Card
The Discover card is a type of credit card. You can make purchases with the card up to a maximum, established credit limit, and then pay down the balance over time. If you try to make a purchase, and the purchase would cause your balance to exceed your credit limit, Discover will decline the purchase authorization. Instructions
1)Call the Discover customer service number. The toll-free number is 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683). You cannot request credit limit increases for Discover cards online.
2)Enter identifying information using your phone’s keypad when prompted. Enter the last four digits of your Discover card number, the last four digits of your Social Security number and your five-digit zip code at the prompts.
3)Select item 5 from the main menu when prompted, then select item 4 on the submenu. This connects you to the credit limit increase request automated service.
4)Follow the prompts in the automated service. You will be asked to enter the amount to which you want to increase your credit limit. You may receive an immediate decision or be required to wait for a decision by mail.
5)Hang up when the automated process is complete.
