Rewards

You earn up to a 5 percent Cashback Bonus when you use your card for purchases in rotating categories. The categories change every three months and you must enroll in the program every quarter for your purchases to qualify. Note that there are caps on the amount of 5 percent Cashback Bonuses you can earn. After you reach the cap, you earn 1 percent on purchases in that category. You earn .25 percent on all other purchases. After your total annual purchases exceed $3,000 during the year, you earn 1 percent cash back on all purchases. Rewards don’t expire, but if your account is inactive for 18 consecutive months or if you fail to make your minimum payment for two consecutive billing periods, your CashBack Bonus account is forfeited.

Balance Transfers

Balance transfers are offered at the discretion of the issuer. There’s a 5 percent balance transfer fee.

The Discover® Student Card with $25 Cash Back Bonus offers a zero percent introductory APR on purchases for six months. After that, this card carries a 13.99 percent to 20.99 percent variable APR, based on your creditworthiness. Cash advances carry a 23.99 percent variable APR and a 5 percent transaction fee. There’s no annual fee.
