In addition to rewards and low interest rates, students can also rest easy if their card is lost or stolen because the Discover card offers $0 fraud liability insurance.

Rewards

Members will earn up to 5 percent cashback on purchases – such as those relating to gas, home improvement, groceries and restaurants – make with their credit card. Cardholders will also have access to an exclusive online shopping network that will afford them the chance to earn between 5 and 20 percent cashback on purchases. One percent cashback bonuses will also be earned on all general purchases. The website also allows you to redeem your rewards for more than 100 brand-name items.

Balance Transfers

Balance transfers do not apply.

Rates

During a nine-month introductory rate, the Discover card will carry a zero percent annual percentage rate on all purchases. Following the expiration of the intro period, a rate of 13.99 percent to 20.99 percent will apply. No sign-up or annual fee applies.

Who Should Apply

Students who use their credit card for general purchases may benefit from the generous rewards program.

Credit Standing

The issuer requires a good to excellent credit score of 700 or above to secure this card.
